Overview

This program will prepare students to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills in support of engineers, contractors and other professional engaged in the construction of buildings and related structures. Students will learn basic structural and construction techniques; estimating, supply logistics and procurement; site preparation; management and supervision of construction personnel; and computer aided drafting.

Students who complete Â鶹×ÔÅÄK Tech’s Carpentry/Cabinetmaking Certificate B, will combine those earned credits with 18 credit hours of prescribed technical course work at Fort Hays State University’s Department of Applied Technology as listed below. Students will also need to complete an additional 6 hours of general education as listed below to fulfill the requirements for the AAS degree in Construction Engineering Technology/Technician awarded by Â鶹×ÔÅÄK Tech.

Program Outcomes

This degree allows graduates of Â鶹×ÔÅÄKTC’s 9-month Construction Technology program (offered in Beloit and Hays) to expand into a second-year AAS degree program. Students combine 18 credit hours of the prescribed technical coursework through Fort Hays State University’s Industrial Technology Studies Program with 6 additional general education credits from Â鶹×ÔÅÄKTC to fulfill the requirements for the AAS degree in Building/Construction Site Management awarded by Â鶹×ÔÅÄKTC.
